  • Research Interests

My research combines ecological modelling and empirical (monitoring and experimental) data for analyzing interactions and feedbacks among factors influencing the structures, functions and dynamics of ecological and socio-ecological systems at multiple scales. At the Institute of Geobotany, I am coordinating empirical field studies in 5 East African Countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda), as well as developing agent-based models of social-ecological impacts and possible feedbacks of upscaling nature-based farming systems, in the frame of a multi-actor EU Horizon 2020 UPSCALE project:  Upscaling the Benefits of Push-Pull Technology for Sustainable Agricultural Intensification in East Africa.

  • Projects
